The Materials and Processes Discipline (D-MP) focuses on the standardization of semi-finished products, materials, testing methods and processes used to manufacture aeronautical parts and assemblies.

CN ALRC - Steels and heat resisting alloys

CN ALRC - Steels and heat resisting alloys

The CN ALRC covers the following materials used in the aeronautics and space sector: steels (iron-based alloys) and heat-resistant alloys (iron-based alloys, nickel-based alloys, cobalt-based alloys). The commission produces the following types of documents: technical specifications, material procurement standards, dimensional standards for semi-finished products, and test method standards (chemical analyses, mechanical tests, and non-destructive tests).

CN ALLE - Light alloys

CN ALLE - Light alloys

The CN ALLE covers the following materials used in the aeronautics and space sector: aluminum-based alloys, titanium-based alloys, magnesium-based alloys, and copper-based alloys. The commission produces the following types of documents: technical specifications, material procurement standards, dimensional standards for semi-finished products, and test method standards (chemical analyses, mechanical tests, and non-destructive tests).

CN ELAS - Elastomers

CN ELAS - Elastomers

The CN ELAS covers the following elastomer compounds, intended for use in the manufacture of sealing products (e.g. O-rings, custom parts) in the aeronautics and space sector: acrylic butadien-nitriles (NBR), hydrogenated nitriles (HNBR), polychloroprenes (CR), ethylene-propylenes (EPM), silicones (VMQ), fluorosilicones (FMVQ), fluorocarbons (FKM) and perfluorocarbons (FFKM). The commission produces the following types of documents: technical specifications, standards for the characteristics of elastomer compounds, standards for storage conditions, marking and identification standards.

CN MAST - Mastics

The CN MAST covers the following types of sealants for use in the aeronautics and space sector: sulfur polymers, silicones, polyesters, acrylics, epoxies, polyurethanes, and butyls. The commission produces the following types of documents: technical specifications and sealant characteristic standards.

CN CMO - Composites

CN CMO - Composites

The CN CMO covers organic matrix composite materials being processed for use in the aerospace sector. The individual elements that make up organic matrix composite materials are not covered (e.g., fibers, yarns, woven and non-woven textiles, resins). Finished parts are not covered.

CN FAAD - Additive manufacturing

CN FAAD - Additive manufacturing

The FAAD CN covers the different forms (e.g. powders, resins, wires) and natures (e.g. metallic, polymers) of the materials used for the production of parts for aeronautics and space, the machines and software associated with the processes (e.g. powder fusion techniques), the machine operators, the characteristics relating to the parts intended to be mounted in aeronautics and space constructions (e.g. post-treatments, controls), maintenance and repair.

CN SOBR - Welding and brazing

The CN SOBR covers the different welding techniques (e.g. electron beam welding, TIG process, laser process, spot welding) and brazing (e.g. soft soldering, hard soldering) as well as the different forms (e.g. powder, paste, wires) and natures (e.g. steel, nickel-based alloy) of the associated filler materials as used in the aeronautics and space sector.

CN SURF - Surface treatment

The CN SURF covers surface treatment processes (e.g. anodization, passivation, chemical conversion, cadmium plating) as well as organic and inorganic coating products (e.g. paints, varnishes, dry lubricants) used in the aeronautics and space sector.

The END CN covers the various non-destructive testing techniques (e.g. eddy current, ultrasound, radiography) used for the inspection of specimens and parts used in aeronautics and space applications.

CN METH - Test methods

CN METH - Test methods

The CN METH covers environmental tests (e.g. abrasions, fingerprints, fire resistance, smoke gas behavior) and test methods (mechanical tests, simulations) that affect metallic and non-metallic materials used in aeronautics and space.
